A chemical wash sits between general servicing and a full overhaul. Chemical solution is applied to the coil and drainage while the unit stays mounted.
Signs a wash is due
- Cooling has weakened despite regular servicing
- A musty smell when the unit starts
- Visible dirt on the coil fins
- Water dripping occasionally from the unit
What it will not fix
If the unit is not cooling because refrigerant has leaked, no amount of cleaning changes that. And if the blower and casing are heavily clogged, a wash reaches less than an overhaul does. We will tell you which of the three your unit actually needs.
